The timetable for MAXIMA
Planning and building a new regional wastewater treatment system takes time. Key short-term milestones include signing an implementation agreement with the municipalities, and obtaining a new environmental permit and permits to lay new outlet pipes. Market dialogue with potential contractors is also very important at this stage. Construction is expected to take around eight years.
The joint planning of the new wastewater treatment system dates back to 2017, when VA SYD began coordinating local expansion plans to create a comprehensive solution. The robust new MAXIMA wastewater treatment system will represent the best economic solution for the municipalities of Burlöv, Lomma, Malmö and Svedala.
Construction of the new wastewater treatment system can begin when VA SYD has an implementation agreement and a new environmental permit in place. We expect to receive the environmental permit in 2025 at the earliest.
